Aqua Sprite pushes this card's power pretty forcefully into mark of chroma + GoO + fractal

Image of sprite loads very slow. .. can you include description text for it (like for the main card).

As a gut instinct I would say stay balancing by assuming 3 to 4 are in play. That means you payed 3×3 = 9 ... there will be 3 sprites so you will have 3 3/5s and 3 1/1s... so on average you get a 3/5 and a 1/1 for 3 quanta. This is a little too good compared with grav merc. Add to it the high advantage when combo with flood mitosis fractal or reinforce... it needs a cost boost or mechanic change.

Note that Nereid says "unique", so playing multiple doesn't buff it so much

Is the ability onplay or a free activated ability?

I Didn't  are that there... actually... that might be worse since there could be a lot of unique creatures in play

Well, the number of unique creatures can never be more than the number of creatures, so, no, it isn't stronger that way.

The mechanic doesn't feel waterish. Also, it has less growth per turn than lava golems, graviton fire eater, steamies, etc. And it's more fragile, as it loses all the ++ gain with mass CC.
The only good synergy I find is SoP. Yeah, it would be neat with SoP.
Also Cell was nerfed for a reason, so I would make the ability cost  :water :water

probably should have mentioned that earlier

It is stronger in the sense that you can only have 6 of a particular type of creature (e.g. this one) in a deck. There are much more than 6 unique aquatic creatuers available
It does help negate fractal and mito abuse though, so this is probably the right way to go.

That's what I'm saying (or at least trying to). Today hasn't been a very good day for what I'm saying to be interpreted how I intended it to be...
