Earth / Nerf Throw Rock
« on: November 16, 2014, 03:44:05 am »
Shouldn't be able to target player directly. Should have to setup creatures to be targeted

CG's argued this point twice; I'm leaving this thread here to make it less of a things-you-only-know-if-youve-been-lurking-chat-forever

Throw Rock is arguably OP as anti-deckout (nevermind the CC draw denial that makes it 2:1 whenever the opponent draws a rock they can't play)
It only requires a source of 1 :earth per turn, whereas Eternity requires a creature to bounce & 3 :time per turn
If your opponent has innovation/sobr, then you need sanctuary or else they will mill you. Eternity can drawlock self before you fall within mill range. Throw Rock will eventually land at the bottom of your deck

Throw Rock is also less useful before it takes on anti deckout. Whereas eternity be used to stall out the game & destroy opponent's buffs, Throw Rock cannot be cast if the opponent will have some way to use it themselves to avoid deckout (also you won't be able to use further unless opponent throws back, so using means giving up anti deckout)

If opponent has burn card you have to throwrock yourself immediately whenever you draw it

Time Barrier no longer procs on draws that occur as part of one's drawstep
AI payout now ramps with winstreak, up to 1.5x. 5% per win for commoner/mage, 7.5% for champ/arena1, & 10% for dg/arena2

cgedit: serp forgot to mention that the role of hp in profit has been reduced by about half. You will get closer to the "base" 100 hp payout for both low hp (eg 1/100 hp) and high hp (eg 500/500 hp) wins. Hopefully this will reduce the dominance of stone skin in particular and hp-based decks in general.

Decks / Siren OTK [payload] [nerfed]

Play reflective, anubis & siren. SoR anubis, SoR siren, quint siren, SoW siren, SoR anubis, unquint siren, PU siren, have sirens sing to each other ftw

This is why sirens can't sing to themselves now; previously didn't require PU. If this is still too easy to achieve quinttog will have to remove psionic when unquinting

Fippe optimized to use GoO & Bubble Shield so that OTK is easy time/water/aether trio with innovation

EDIT Siren can no longer sing to a creature with sing

Comparing Blue Nymph to other generator creatures..

Name active-cost:generated-cost
N cost if creature was vanilla, X for skill based on difference of cost, -1 if duo
=cost

Goose 1:1
2 body, 3 for skill, -1 duo
=4

Pharaoh 2:2
4.5 body, 4.5 skill
=9

FFQ 2:3
3.5 body, 3.5 skill, -1 duo
=6

Blue 3:6
5.5 body, 2.5 skill
=8

Jack 1:1
3.5 body, 2.5 skill, -1 duo
=5

tl;dr Blue Nymph has the best active cost effectiveness at the lowest cost to body. Adding +2 to the generated base costs makes these numbers less outrageous. Additionally the overall cost of Blue Nymph being so low may be related to UG being overpriced by 0.5-1 quanta. Arguably the skill can have a duo bonus since UG requires :fire. But that's double dipping since UG's cost should already take duo bonus into account

Gift of Oceanus costs 1 :chroma / 0. Reduce :water it produces by 1. An intent of GoO was to faciliate trios, it doesn't do that with :water cost

What's the correct play when someone gets a fast eternity?
Don't play creatures to avoid draw lock

What happens if you have an empty field against a time barrier, even if opponent doesn't have draw power?
It gains a charge every turn

Not gaining a charge when drawing at start of turn seems the best course of action. It'd also tone down Time Barrier in double draw decks. Since drawing cards occurs at the end of your opponent's turn, not the start, an easy way to implement this would be to not proc when it isn't the owner's turn. This would also stop gaining charges if opponent uses innovation offensively or uses SoBr

Writ of Vengeance :light perm, when a creature dies on opponent's turn all your creatures attack (original idea of Writ of Vindication)
Golden Nymph nerfed to 6|3 / 7|5 (Golden Nymph & Hourglass weren't comparing well at all)
Upped Gryphon nerfed to 7|3 / 7|5 (Air doesn't deserve a 7|7 with so much internal synergy)
Siren can't sing to itself (infinite damage combo was found, this makes it very difficult to pull off)
