3-leg Team PVP Event - Round 4

Leg spelled backwards is Gel.

Inspired by original EtG's 3-man PvP
Hosted by asdw152 and Septima Rhay

art credit: Niharia

Team and Element-use Rules:
Players unite as 2-player teams.  Each team plays three best-of-5 matches each round; each match is a 'leg' that can be played by 1 of the 2 teammates.  A player must play at least 1 leg/match per event round.  Once per event may one team member play all 3 matches in the round (only due to scheduling/availability issues).  Teams choose 1 element for each match/leg and 1 overall team element. For each match/leg, there will be a randomly assigned 'battle element' that apply to both players in the match/leg.  So, for each match/leg, the player builds decks from 3 elements: (1) team element, (2) leg element, and (3) battle element.  We are using a swiss-style, double elimination match format.  Teammates should discuss how to manage deck building, scheduling matches, which leg(s) to play, etc.

Spoiler for Team/element example:
Team name: Lodes-of-fun   vs
Team element:  :earth
Leg 1 element:  :entropy
Leg 2 element:  :air
Leg 3 element:  :aether
     Team name: Stacked
     Team element:  :gravity
     Leg 1 element:  :death
     Leg 2 element:  :water
     Leg 3 element:  :time

For each leg/match, the event hosts will randomly assign a 'battle' element. Example:

Round 1 battle element for Leg 1:  :life
Lodes-of-fun Leg 1 builds decks with  :earth :entropy :life
Stacked Leg 1 builds decks with  :gravity :death :life

Round 1 battle element for Leg 2:  :light
Lodes-of-fun Leg 2 builds decks with:  :earth :air :light
Stacked Leg 2 builds decks with:  :gravity :water :light

Deckbuilding Rules:

Players build decks for each leg/match that consist only of cards from their 3 available elements (as noted in the above Team/element rules section).   Battle elements are randomly determined before each matchup is posted.  Battle elements cannot be either of the two dueling players' 'leg' element or 'team' element and will always be something else.

- Each deck may use 10 upgraded cards
- No non-ppm chroma cards
- You may change decks between games
- You may use Pillars, Pendulums, and Mark cards (ppm) quanta cards) that don't match your 3 Elements
- You must use at least 2 of your 3 Elements in each deck (If you use an element, you must use at least 4 non-quanta cards)
- You may not use the same combination of elements more than twice in a match (This refers to your 3 Elements); the trio counts as a different combo - basically there's 8 possible combos per best-of-5 match.

We've *removed* the deck examples and the 'decksize' rules from Round 1. You can have a 26 water/4 gravity cards deck or 56 water/4 gravity cards deck.  As long as the gravity cards are non-ppm.

Prizes each player on team:

1st Place: 36000 Gold + Shiny Nymph Code
2nd Place: 24000 Gold + Shiny Nymph Code
3rd Place: 18000 Gold + Shiny rare Code
Participant: 12000 Gold

Round 4 match-ups
Match period: Jan 28 - February 4
Post decks AFTER the entire round is over
2nd loss = knockout

BigPollo (1 loss)  vs     Lucky 7 (1 loss)
Leg 1  :fire :air :light  vs     :entropy :aether :light
Leg 2  :fire :death :earth   vs     :entropy :water :earth
Leg 3  :fire :life :time   vs     :entropy :darkness :time

Turns out we mindgated what Septima would play here: Qnymph rush, sopa warden, pb&j. Even with that foresight, we couldn't find much in our elements that could stand up to water. Thermaltox was our best bet against jelly/queen but this barely won.

Leg 1
Lucky 7 (2-3) BigPollo
Congrats to pimpollo and BigDieck.  Well deserved event win.

We played the legs in reverse order.

Leg3: LLWL
Spoiler for Leg 3:
Very close, 1 turn off win. Phoenix 0|4 was too resilient to slow scarab army.
0350501506045rg015t2065se055rs087q0027ri018pj

Also close.  With Swave early and 3-4 damagers, felt the need to stall quicker with dials. No drawpower. May have been better to save dials for a larger board later.
025rg015t2055rp025rk015rl065vi015us025ve027q5077um017u4018ps

Wow, the stall I built in 5 minutes was the only win.
034vn08606015ur065vi055us055uu035uo036u7067um017tb018pj

Expecting a stall.  Lost quickly.
065s7025s4065um065vg097um017ta018ps

Game 5 was for fun.  Its too bad there was no reason to play pande 3.0.  Goose dominated. Bwuk bwuk bwuk.
0e4vc0250u044vt044vs024vu045s1056u3056un018ps
Leg2: LWWW
Spoiler for Leg 2:
1 purify there to flip SoSac but didn't draw in time.
014vi03505065i4015jm035ij015ia055io097gk017i6018pj

Good draw for me.  Slower draw for him, but dryspell in opening hand would have slowed him down nonetheless.
0250702505075i4025ij025ia055io0a7gk018pj

Interesting game.  No Sopa drawn.  He had Diamond up midway.  Bobbit burrowed everything on site and in sight and chipped away. You don't see many games like that.

04596055i4015ia025ib035j2055j00477e067gk018pm

Perfect draw for us.  early BB on lava sealed it.
024vq035060558o015aa0559604595037780178q0677e018pj
Leg 1: WLLWL
Spoiler for Leg 1:
Lightning dominated B.nymph
055l8015mq035ld065m20561q067jo027jq0280r018pu

Didn't draw the 'counter' cards enough - shields. Plus he had 2 give-thermal combos in the top 11 cards.
044vj045l8015lu035ld045m2045la097jo017ka018pq

Again, didn't draw enough 'counters' despite packing 5 shields.
024vv024vp0361o0162f0162b0362d0662m0261s088080280r018pj

This time the 'counter' worked and outpaced the give-storm 'combo'.
055l8015mq035ld065m20561q067jo027jq0280r018pu

Great use of whim.  That's why we lost this one.  He was able to find enough lavas to eek out the win.

Time to go over all the decks matching ^tba in my decks
Spoiler for Hidden:
aflamage missing 10 ups
0252q0552s0d63a0262b0261q06627018pk
Upped static & less mage more lightning might be better
waterentro alch theorycraft
0750u014vv075i4035it025ib066u3046uj018pp
Expected Septima would want to pull out Alchemist, but couldn't find anything good
antint
064vn075i4015ir025ib045io0a7i6018pj
Maybe water/entro can have good decks without any specific combo
skele cheese
0552m035i4035j3015ir055ib035j2077gk037hj018pp
sopaskele didn't get to show off too much this event
auburn mirror
085aa0359c0662e036270678q0180r0380o018pu
I don't know why I have the urge to splash nymphs into unrelated decks when this would be better splashing a few BB. Also I think this deck is illegal
ballcatcher
015360252v0352r045340163a0661p0361q0471f06718018pk
wasn't finding a ballcatcher in semiupped where the speed was worth the variance. Was looking at different quanta bases after testing a lot vs dbh in R1
bonebolt
0652g0352p0352h0661q026220472i0271a0471b018pu
Looks like I modified deck code itself when I added in 3 plagues in R3
bwrock
0b52g0152q0253406599067180471b018pm
Great deck in weenie meta. Would've been less effective in R3 vs whim
salvagebone
0e52g06563067180471b018pl
So in R1 I expected DBH with dragons, making charge shields pretty effective. death/time/gravity all have charge shields & salvager, so figured they'd be bringing deployerjelly to counter. Couldn't figure out a deck that did well vs both dbh & deployjelly
brokenjelly
024vl03506014vn0a61o0462e0481q0680o018pj
Whereas in another leg in R1 our main focus was how to do well vs both chaosbyt & brokenjelly. Psionic jellies pretty good. Chaos Byt is actually busted btw, unfortunately when I decided to show that even blessbyt is busted it ran into the real busted
chaosbyt
0c61o0262a0661r066u20480q018pj
it's wide, it's tall, it's faster than a locomotive, it's chaosbyt. Missing from these decks is the blessbyt we ran, it was basically this but using blessing & about as fast
sopachrys
0652m0152q045jm065i5035j20471b067h4018pk
this deck is not as good as I would think
chrysfast
0652g0252q0452t0352r055i50471006713018pp
Chrys don't belong in fast decks
chrysrush
0352g035420152o0352q0452r065i504718067h4018pk
Chrys don't belong in fast decks
commandjelly
014vv014vi025060a52g025420252m0152q0153c047160671h018pj
Fresh idea with a great name made a new thread. This deck is bad vs stalls but this isn't a stall meta we're dealing with. vs creatureless it works to jelly skeles & then command vs jellies too. Glad this won when we fielded it
immaterialrush
0861o0462d0662m0261v0171a03718048080281q018pk
This is the initial start to what eventually was tuned to be the same deck but a turn faster. One of those "hope you're faster than me cause you ain't slowing me down" but unfortunately it lost by 1 turn as expected because it did get slowed down by Titanium Shield vs unupped arse (also for some reason this is wrong list, see correct list in R2 where I go upped phase golems & 3 arse)
dbh
064vc024vl064vf0655v046ts046ve026u5018pl
Lucky7 ended up bringing a less refined dbh
tombbomb
0a52g0152q025350252r025ri035s50471l06718018ps
Time Bomb is not good. Was looking for low quanta decks vs dbh
deployoty
015360955k06576045660471b0674b018pk
Like the DG counter. Deployer is pretty good
tidaldolphin
0256d065i4015ir025ib025ip065j1015io087gk027i6018pl
deadend theorycrafting about water/gravity decks
dune
075rg065rt065rk015s10674a047q0018pl
Too slow. Maybe only 2 dunes & then fill in hognose
pinkstone
064vp024vn0e58o0359l046u70578q01785018pj
Guessing at some stallier decks Lucky7 might bring. I think timpa & I rate stonewall higher than most others
infectedtal

I was trying to make an epidemic deck
dejademic
0952g06533055rh0472i06712018ps
I made an epidemic deck, it was bad
fatcow
064vj0155u01563065i4015i5025ib035j2066uc047h4018pj
More entro/water theorycrafting. Spidercow pretty good. Got mitocow often enough in testing
giganoob
0a5aa0159f0459j0362m02621018080181q0280t0680d018pu
Love this deck, had a great time optimizing it
tombgio
0a55k035610255m0155s0455o0571l05744018pk
I really wanted to use Tomb it just wasn't happening
givestorm
065l9045lq025oc065ot025os067mt047nm018pr
fuck this deck, maybe I should've spent more time trying to counter this in R3 & less time feeling hopeless. Stupid of me not to bring some upped null mantis in R3. Good to see Septima give it an honest try without access to mass CC. This deck has to go
rtrepulsor
0a55k035760256f055rk047450674k018ps
rtsplash so the fun police are never off duty

095l8045mq025lt065m6035m40162f0362j0261q027la047kd027k20280a018pu
This deck is alright, was struggling with card minimums R1
invictus
0552g0152l0652t045se035rk015ro0672i0171a037q4018ps
Not sure why I like this deck, but it seems to've survived from original. I like decks that can play different ways
deployjelly
014vv045060755k065760255v036u50175m0374b0374m018pj
This deck was performing better than dbh, could only find a couple half decent decks vs it, like innoouija could go either way while having enough pillar spam + time barrier vs dbh
jellyskelly
0b4vc045060552m016ts066tu036u5018pj
Jelly is a good card
lightnoob
015lh0f63a04622047ki0680d018pq
Unfortunately not good vs rolhope
guilelycan

0658o0559b015vk015v1045vj035up0478q0677e018pt
Orochi solid, but as seen in this event, not so good if opponent brings wardens or bb/freeze..
ouijacat
084vc064vq02506015360152r025340671f037170171b018pk

timpa had to adjust last minute because I only put 5 ouija in for death cards which was illegal. This deck is fast

Being able to play sopawarden 4x in a Bo5 is pretty nice

tidalhogmom
0356d095rg025ro065sb0674a047ri018pl
Not enough creatures, combo a bit too slow
vindicatbless
014vv064vq065m0065lf015lh0a7la018pj
I thought this seemed like a stupid deck Lucky7 would field, but in testing it was too bad to even make Septima's random junk curveballs list
vindicatpower
064vc014vv064vq024vl055m0046ve066u2018pq
no I will not eat pink eggs and ham, not even with chaos power in the shower
