Your system skirts around the issue of actually implementing cards. Applying protocols to what I program is not the solution. Part of this is why Cygnia came about: people from the community who are not-serprex take on responsibility to implement cards the community desires while I continue to program whatever-serprex-feels-like because a lot of what I program isn't cards

I have a job where I get paid to program what people tell me to. This is not that job

Something anyone who wants to talk about what I develop needs to understand is that I am not looking for a userbase; it's incidental

I prefer this method of programming. Instead of applying strict protocols and treating the game like its a sacred piece that is never to be tampered with, having serprex program what he feels belongs into the game is much more layed back and seems to work pretty smoothly. He is a good person to have doing it, since he will generally implement things if he feels like there is a good reason too.

On the otherhand, etg implemented things so conservatively that having your card be added was a small miracle, and it didn't matter if it was well designed or not.

Cards that occur in response to other cards(cards that can be played on your opponents turn).

Elements the roguelike??? Please explain a bit more, this could mean many different things.

Code: [Select]
You open a door. The door creaks loudly!
An otyugh comes into view. The otyugh bellows!
Here: an open door.
You hit the otyugh but do no damage.
The otyugh tentacle-slaps you!
The otyugh attempts to devour you but fails.
You miss the otyugh.
The otyugh tentacle-slaps you!
The otyugh attempts to devour you but fails.
q - quaff which item?
The alchemist's potion turns bright pink as you quaff it. It was a potion of mutation!
You turn into a hideous abomination! Your +2 chain mail falls away! Your +1 greased cloak falls away!
The otyugh tentacle-slaps you!
The otyugh devours you!
You are being digested!
You are being digested!
You are being digested!
You die...
Do you want your possessions identified? (ynq)

It's like regular Elements except cards have no description and the only way to know what they do is to use them or look them up*. Also all cards, beneficial or harmful, have a small chance of stabbing you in the face.

Oh, and you permanently lose all your cards when you die!

* This applies to your opponent's cards too. Of course since it's an AI it knows perfectly well what the cards do.

So its based on DCSS?

FC is going to be gone for a few weeks, but until then me and kirby will continue with creating and running events. If there is an issue we need to vote on, it is required that both me and kirby must agree on action. If we absolutely need to have a tie breaker, we will consult the admins and D2D(since he is the leader of material, FC's guild).

This is just a thread I created for announcements relating to guilds. Look here for possible updates on events or things involving us GO's.

What if it was a permanent? 4  :gravity cost, 3/2  :gravity ability cost "Destroy 3 random pillars you control. Deal 5 damage to target creature"

The whole concept of it is to be a repeatable kill spell that can't be easily delt with. It also gives a reason for cards like burn and yoink to exist.

Voted!

Spoiler for Hidden:

ROT - fits thematically and is a nice card to give  :death some control.

Shinki Edit: Fixed.

Thanks Shinki - I'm looking at the code and it looks the same... what did I do incorrectly?

You typed "spolier" instead of "spoiler." Kind of hard to notice, I didn't realize it at first either.

Velocity seems very weak, while reaper seems interesting. It gets my vote.

Rant to Organizers: Having a poll where you can see results while voting is really bad if you want truly unbiased voting. Next time I advice you to follow Brawl system: Each guild votes in their secret board, outsiders votes openly here. The GOs count the otes when time is up. No actual polls, just posts saying what you voted and why. While I realize you trust people, which is good, the current system is very easy to exploit, which does not seem very professional.

Thank you for the constructive criticism fippe, we will remember to do that next time. Keep in mind, voters cant see the poll until after they vote, and they can't changet their vote either.

Are non-guild-members allowed to vote?
Why is there both a voting, AND we have to say what we voted on in the thread? Why not one or the otehr?
Why isn't the guild voting hidden in their boards, just like is done with Brawl? Sure, you might trust people, but if the voting is very close it's easy to just pick the choice that leads to your win, even if we make that choice unconciously.

Yes, non guild members are absolutely allowed to vote. The reason I have people say what they voted for is to avoid them voting for their own guild. If the numbers don't add up, we do a recount with PMing instead of public poll. The poll is there so people can see how well their cards are doing.

We never thought of guild voting being in secret boards, mostly because I think the GO's(or at least this is how I feel) wanted non-guild members to participate in the voting. Lastly, we have 3 GO's all in different guilds, so we would probably put that sort of thing to voting.

Resonator combo would be easy to setup. You run pillars, not lockets, because those help get resonator out & feed the cannon

That said, the cost of 5 is what I assume a stand alone "Destroy target creature" spell should cost. So the question is whether 3/2 pillars are worth redrawing this spell. I'm inclined to agree. Don't think there's a CC shortage to call for this atm

I see a huge difference between CC cards and renewable CC cards. Now, if this card said "Destroy target creature, lose 2 pillars" and thats it, I would be inclined to agree. But having access to renewable CC in an element is often what helps an element stand out and be usable in a variety of decks. Air and owls eye is a good example of this, as is Water and Artic Squid. I could think of a million deck combos I could make with this card being a key piece in them, and adding variety to the pvp metagame is always a good thing.

Essentially what I'm saying is, even if there is no shortage of CC cards, this isn't JUST a CC card; ts an engine that makes way for tons of new strategies, so I wouldn't scrap the idea so quickly.

Made a small edit to the notes, read the parenthasese at the top of the notes section to explain exactly what it means to be "removed from the field."
